Rep. Souder on DC Gun Rght Bill

Rep. Souder, who introduced a bill to curtail DC's resistance to Heller, has a letter to the editor in today's Washington Post.
Last month, the Supreme Court affirmed that Americans have an individual right under the Second Amendment to keep and bear arms.

Just as with the First Amendment, it matters not a whit whether we reside in the state of Indiana or the District of Columbia. We are protected by the same Bill of Rights.

Sadly, since the announcement of the Heller decision, we have seen the D.C. Council continue to thumb its nose at the Constitution and defy a clear Supreme Court order by largely maintaining its draconian handgun ban.

Moreover, when Congress chose to delegate home rule to the District in the 1970s, it specified that legislation enacted by the District must be "consistent with the Constitution of the United States," and it "reserve[d] the right, at any time, to exercise its constitutional authority as legislature for the District, by enacting legislation for the District on any subject."

The time is now for Congress to step in to protect the rights of law-abiding Americans.

Reparations By Another Name

The favorite tactic of liberals is to get what they want, but not tell you what it really is. Case in point, this Obama speech ... Code for Reparations.

Democratic Candidate Barack Obama told a Chicago audience on Sunday he believes in reparations "not just in words but in deeds."
"There's no doubt that when it comes to our treatment of Native Americans as well as other persons of color in this country, we've got some very sad and difficult things to account for," Obama told hundreds of attendees of UNITY '08, a convention of four minority journalism associations.

The Hawaii-born senator, who has told local reporters that he supports the federal recognition bill for native Hawaiians drafted by U.S. Sen. Daniel Akaka, noted other ethnic groups but did not mention native Hawaiians when answering a question about his thoughts on a formal U.S. apology to American Indians.

"I personally would want to see our tragic history, or the tragic elements of our history, acknowledged," the Democratic presidential hopeful said.

"I consistently believe that when it comes to whether it's Native Americans or African-American issues or reparations, the most important thing for the U.S. government to do is not just offer words, but offer deeds."
Is there any one alive who needs to be held in account for the deeds of slavery. I think not. But yesterday, setting the stage, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution, pout forth by a white Democrat, Rep who faces a strong black candidate in the coming primary season, an apology for slavery. Now what the heck is that all about?

No the reparations may not be what is typically defined as such, but the general plan will be apparent to the taxpayer.

Change

Beware charismatic men who preach 'Change' -- Change you didn't want.

The moo-Saih Lord Obama On Drilling For Oil

Obambi lays out his energy plan, and it ain't pretty.
There are things you can do individually, though, to save energy. Making sure your tires are properly inflated — simple thing. But we could save all the oil that they’re talking about getting off drilling — if everybody was just inflating their tires? And getting regular tune-ups? You’d actually save just as much!
Poor boy doesn't even know most cars don't require tuneups. Well how would he know, the limo driver takes care of those details.

You know, the moo-Saih Obambi has said some pretty dumb things, but this makes the leap to just plain stupid. Is the moo-Saih stupid? I think he may be.
After listening to this absurdity, try and tell this guy isn't stupid? Just a post turtle.

More at Hot Air

Couple this stupidity with Speaker Pelosi's hate filled nasty rants capped off with "I trying to save the planet" and you get a complete picture of why the Congressional approval rating is in single digits. Never have we had such stupid people reach such heights. It's time for a change.

Lamenting The Consensus That Never Was

Has the tipping point been reached?

I rarely if ever read the NY Times, far better more accurate news and commentary is available elsewhere on the Internet, but this was just too juicy to pass up. There has been a dearth of Global warming alarmist articles, signalling an end to the hype -- It's reached tipping point among most of the public. In the past when you would talk to some random guy on the street, you almost always got the answer "we have to do something' in some form. Now you get the immediate retort "I don't believe in that". Something has changed.

That change has taken a simple form, the evidence of CO2 driven global warming, that is the real empirical evidence, the data, does not support the hypothesis. CO2 causes nothing harmful.

Now the NY Times laments ...
When science is testing new ideas, the result is often a two-papers-forward-one-paper-back intellectual tussle among competing research teams.

When the work touches on issues that worry the public, affect the economy or polarize politics, the news media and advocates of all stripes dive in. Under nonstop scrutiny, conflicting findings can make news coverage veer from one extreme to another, resulting in a kind of journalistic whiplash for the public.

This has been true for decades in health coverage. But lately the phenomenon has been glaringly apparent on the global warming beat.
So the methodology of using false information put out to effect people's behavior by phony health data is now being blamed for causing the demise of the man caused CO2 warming hoax. BTW, is salt good or bad for you this week?

Does it help to have people like Speaker Pelosi bleating on TV that she "I'm trying to save the planet" -- Or does it just make people walk off shaking their heads? I choose the latter, no one could be so dumb as to think 'they can save the planet' -- Earth has been through far worse times in it's 4.6 billion year of existence, than anything man could dish out. For starters, how about the asteroid impact that allegedly wiped out 95% of life on earth. Or the last ice age, which had the sea level some 400 feet below today's level. Yes, that means all those precious reefs, the Great Barrier reef, the Florida Keys and so forth, were all laid bare. What happened? They are still here after all that. How did that happen.
In a news media universe where specialized reporting is declining and a Web mash-up of instant opinion and information is emerging it is ever more important for scientists to take responsibility for communicating in ways that stick, while sticking with the facts.
If that had been the case, the whole AGW cock-up would not have ever happened. But why did it happen? Simple, taxes, pay more in taxes so government can pretend to control the weather. The global warming hoax was just the guilt trip part to make you 'want' to pay more in taxes.

Case in point
Roger A. Pielke Jr., a political scientist at the University of Colorado, warned that the focus by the public and media on the stream of evolving climate science could distract from the need for policies now that made sense regardless of uncertainties. “The example of reducing losses to hurricanes is a good one,” Dr. Pielke said, “where the actions that make the most sense are really independent of the debate over greenhouse gases and hurricane behavior.”
Do we really need an elaborate hoax to get people to realize they should build stronger higher houses to avoid having those houses destroyed by hurricanes? Not likely. Doesn't the average Joe know that instinctively without prodding? Well no they don't. For the longest while there has been a disconnect. Florida has some of the best building codes in the country in regards to hurricane protection, hurricane resistant structures. But at the same time, Florida allows mobile homes, yeah those aluminum trailers, to be placed away from the coast. In actuality, there is no 'safe place' in Florida for trailers.

Wilma struck our place, we had damage, nowhere near total loss. Wilma also went all the way across Florida in under 5 hours and exited near Jupiter Florida as a weakened 110 mph storm. SO tell me, what part of the Wilma trek was safe for Florida mobile homes. Our house is on a bay about 3 miles from the coast, stronger house construction, less damage -- I rest my case.
“The same might be said for many health studies on fat, coffee, carbs,” ... “The lesson from experts is to eat a balanced diet and get plenty of exercise,” which stays the same despite the various disputes.
Doesn't everyone know that? Probably not.
Morris Ward, the editor of the Yale effort (yaleclimatemediaforum.org), says that it will be up to the public to choose to be better informed on momentous issues that do not fit the normal template for news or clash with their ingrained worldviews. “At some point,” he said, “the public at large has to step up to the plate in terms of scientific and policy literacy, in terms of commitment to education and strong and effective political leadership, and in terms of their own general self-improvement.”
The end. No longer can we trust politicians with science -- That's been aptly demonstrated.

If you want the truth, that is what little we know, about global warming, buy the video "The Great Global Warming Swindle". It should be coming out in the near future, and no, I have no connection to it's production.

China's Nuclear Strategy

China, the world's second-biggest energy consumer, and Westinghouse Electric Co. started building the first of several nuclear power plants in the eastern province of Shandong.

The Shandong Nuclear Power Co. and Westinghouse broke ground on the project in Haiyang city Tuesday, a month earlier than scheduled, the companies said in a joint press release carried by PR News Wire.

Westinghouse and France's Areva SA are competing to build as many as 26 reactors by the end of the next decade as China turns to atomic energy to cut pollution and reduce its reliance on oil.

Construction on two reactors in Sanmen in the eastern province of Zhejiang began in February, the release said.

So what about the U.S. what's the hold up?

MRAP As Mother Ship

MRAPs have been so successful in Iraq that they are now taking on new duties.
Some 12 ton Cougar 6x6 MRAPs (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) have been modified and used successfully as RVSs (Reconnaissance Vehicle Systems). These are used for combat reconnaissance (along a road that might have roadside bombs) as well as route clearance (getting rid of the roadside bombs). To that end, the RVS is equipped with a remotely controlled (from inside the RVS) 12.7mm machine-gun turret, blue force tracker (to see where all other friendly vehicles are) and several external vidcams. The most interesting feature is a robot deployment and recovery system. The robot has its own armored compartment, and it can exit the RVS, check out a suspected roadside bomb, and return to the RVS, all without exposing any of the human crew to enemy fire.
Acting as a mother ship for the troops, a hardened place to hide and observe from.
The RVSs cost about a million dollars each, and have been very successful in combat.
You wonder how much the fast delivery of MRAPs had on the overall success of the surge. I would bet plenty.

Cargo Cult

A couple of instructive videos, should make you stop and think what is going on.

Applicable to many things, like pseudo-science, when you have recently graduated from a government school with an inadequate real fact base -- Or when what you think you know isn't so. The Planet Has Ten Years, Fix Global Warning Or We Are Cooked.

Where have I heard this before ... I just can't put my finger on it. Oh yeah, now I remember, it was from the UN.

GREENHOUSE WARMING NATIONS MAY VANISH, U.N. SAYS

Source: From Herald Wire Services Southern Cross Astronomical
Society

A senior U.N. environmental official says entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000. Coastal flooding and crop failures would create an exodus of "eco-refugees," threatening political chaos, said Noel Brown, director of the New York office of the United Nations U.N. Environment Program, or UNEP. He said governments have a 10-year window of opportunity to solve the

So let’s stop fussing about the interpretation of ice core samples from the South Pole and temperature readings in the troposphere. The real place where discussions of global warming belong is in the realm of belief, and particularly the motives for belief. I see three mutually compatible explanations.

The first is as a vehicle of ideological convenience. Socialism may have failed as an economic theory, but global warming alarmism, with its dire warnings about the consequences of industry and consumerism, is equally a rebuke to capitalism. Take just about any other discredited leftist nostrum of yore – population control, higher taxes, a vast new regulatory regime, global economic redistribution, an enhanced role for the United Nations – and global warming provides a justification.

I Wonder, Which Country Has The Worst Smog

The National Stadium know as the 'Bird's Nest' seen through thick smog Photo: AFP/GETTY

The area where the games will take place failed the government's own smog targets, even as officials opened the Olympic Village with great fanfare.

What do you think would be the response if this were a USA city? Fortunately, the USA has the money and the know how to clean up their own messes, and smog.

Here is another view, if you think the Chinese are making progress on combating smog and pollution.

It's there somewhere ... the Bird's Nest shrouded in smog 12 days out from the start of the Games.

Petraeus Won't Join Bandwagon For Iraq Withdrawal Timetable

If the plan was to create a bandwagon, a parade of joiners, to get the troops out of Iraq, the adults have said no, parade has hit a stumbling block. The naive one, otherwise known as the moo-Saih Lord Obambi, has been rebuked by the commander who put the surge strategy together. Gen Petraus has said it's conditions based withdrawal, what it always has been, that means when we win and have stayed 'won'. that he will recommend the troops be withdrawn.

My guess is the naive one, whose judgement and character sucks, is not happy, McClatchy reports this morning..
The top U.S. military commander in Iraq isn't buying the increasingly popular idea of a publicly stated timetable for American troop withdrawal.

Gen. David Petraeus, the Iraq commander, said in an interview with McClatchy that the situation in Iraq is too volatile to "project out, and to then try to plant a flag on, a particular date."
Putting it on the line, it's quite obvious, if the naive one wins the elections and tries to force a withdrawal, the General is gone. He is not going to preside over defeat. You want more confirmation
Petraeus has said he believes there will be a "long-term partnership" in which the U.S. acts primarily in an advisory role to Iraqi forces, but with enough combat power to step in and help if major battles erupt. But he said that that like most things in Iraq, plans could change.

"We know where we are trying to go. We know how we think we need to try to get there with our Iraqi partners and increasingly with them in the lead and shouldering more of the burden as they are," Petraeus said.
Any fool, except the naive one, who believes he can jive talk his way through any situation, knows you can't just walk out on commitments. Even those made by others. Only fools and moo-Siahs believe you can do otherwise.

The great rush to elect a Communist will have to wait while longer.

Aurora Event Trigger Found

Kapow! When Earth's magnetic field snaps and reconnects, the resulting energy pulse (yellow streaks), called a substorm, triggers auroras (inset) a few minutes later.

Credit: NASA/GODDARD (Walt Feirner)

Skywatcher Mark Urwiller caught this stunning view of the aurora borealis, also known as the northern lights, from his vantage point five miles outside Kearney, Nebraska. Urwiller photographed the light show the evening of May 14, 2005.

"We discovered what sparks the magnificent light show of the aurora," said THEMIS principal investigator Vassilis Angelopoulos, a space scientist at the University of California, Los Angeles.

"Our data show clearly and for the first time that magnetic reconnection is the trigger," said Angelopoulos.

We need to understand this environment and eventually be able to predict when these large energy releases will happen so astronauts can go inside their spacecraft and we can turn off critical systems on satellites so they will not be damaged ... This has been exceedingly difficult in the past, because previous missions, which measured the plasma at one location, were unable to determine the origin of the large space storms. To resolve this question properly requires correlations and signal-timing at multiple locations. This is precisely what was missing until now.

The research is detailed in the July 24 online edition of the journal Science.
A flotilla of NASA probes has solved the 30-year mystery behind the most colorful aurora displays on Earth and the explosive magnetic "substorms" that spawn them. It's been a long journey to pinpoint the trigger event for auroras, but it has at last been discovered.

This research should go a long way to providing more accurate space weather predictions. More here.

Correcting the Oil Shale Record

Claim: Some Democrats question the commercial viability of oil shale production.

FACT: The Rand corporation estimates that as many as 1.1 trillion barrels are recoverable and at prices as low as $35 to $48 dollars per barrel, within the first 12 years of commercial scale production. At current rates of consumption, 1.1 trillion barrels equals more than 145 years of domestic supply. This number would nearly double assuming the Department of Energy’s estimate of nearly 2 trillion potentially-recoverable barrels. Link

Claim: Some Democrats argue that the shale production process uses massive amounts of water.

FACT: Oil Shale uses less water than ethanol and about the same amount as gasoline. According the Department of Energy Office of Strategic Fuels, it takes 3 barrels of water for 1 barrel of oil. Link.

Claim: Some Democrats are concerned about wildlife habitat and land usage.

FACT: One acre of oil shale can produce from 100,000 to 1 million barrels of oil. In contrast – one acre of corn produces only 7-10 barrels of ethanol. Link.

Wavespin Fishing Reel

The DHxL is the latest reel in WaveSpin's lineup and it's target audience is ultralight anglers. Weighing it at only seven ounces, Song told us they did not simply downsize the DH3000, but they started from the ground up to build this reel. Top end drag on this ultralight reel is rated at 24 pounds! Perfect for hard charging saltwater fishing in the 'must stop them now' mangroves. The fact that the smaller size DHxL reel has a graphite body is a big plus for lazy angler saltwater, I'm just saying, not making accusations or admissions.

This inexpensive reel is priced under $100 in the smaller sizes. I generally use a reel the size of Shimano's 2500 for most of my onshore fishing.

The fishing snake is an interesting lure, going to see if I can find some locally and give them a try off the back seawall in saltwater. Not many people know that small snakes and worms are a favorite food of redfish, snook and other denizens of the mangroves.

Communists Travel The Same Road

Obambi's speech about an American version of the Cuban Communist inspired internal security force has the Cuban Americans over at Babalu blog fired up. Really struck a strong cord with those who have had the pleasure of living under the oppression of such an internal secuirty force. Good thing Americans have the Second Amendment, the Amendment of last resort. We may well need it under an Obama Communist regime. Hey at least your library card will be safe, won't it?

To my jaw dropping dismay, today, by coincidence I find out that Barry O. really laid out his socialist agenda for America in a sugar coated version of Stalinism a la John Lennon’s sugar coating of Marx’s communist manifesto in the song “Imagine.”

I read in passing that Senator Obama had issued a call for a “civilian security force” in the July 2nd speech. That phrase made the hair in the back of my neck stand up since I grew up being accosted by a “civilian security force” called the CDR, (Committee for the Defense of the Revolution), in Cuba.

So I looked up the transcript of the speech and I read it, and re-read it and I could not find the quote which I had thought I had read. And, unfortunately, I could not remember where I had read it.

But I kept googling and I found this link Obama's 'Big Brother' vanishes from speech Wow. What "Big Brother" idea did Barry O put forth that his campaign was so afraid that they omitted it from the transcript?

Here it is:

Democrat Sen. Barack Obama's stunning assertion in a recent speech that the U.S. needs a "civilian national security force" that would be as powerful, strong and well-funded as the half-trillion dollar Army, Marines, Navy and Air Force is not included in published transcripts of his prepared remarks.

Actual speech:

"We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

Virginia Is Sitting on the Energy Mother Lode

Another example of extreme environmentalism blocking America's energy supply. Why would the lefties do this? Except for the fact that there is ample energy supplies on America soil, why aren't we utilizing those supplies instead of paying enormous amounts to others?
Amid the rolling hills and verdant pastures of south central Virginia an unlikely new front in the battle over nuclear energy is opening up. How it is decided will tell us a lot about whether this country is willing to get serious about addressing its energy needs.

In Pittsylvania County, just north of the North Carolina border, the largest undeveloped uranium deposit in the United States -- and the seventh largest in the world, according to industry monitor UX Consulting -- sits on land owned by neighbors Henry Bowen and Walter Coles. Large uranium deposits close to the surface are virtually unknown in the U.S. east of the Mississippi River. And that may be the problem.

Virginia is one of just four states that ban uranium mining. The ban was put in place in 1984, to calm fears that had been sparked by the partial meltdown of a nuclear reactor on Three Mile Island outside of Harrisburg, Pa. in 1979.
Who do you think stoked those unfounded fears? And how exactly does banning uranium mining, uranium which is sold worldwide, calm anything. Except for the leftists environmental Marxist who plan America's demise, I see no gain in banning uranium mining. Just a whole lot of stupidity.

But then there is this ...
Messrs. Bowen and Coles, who last year formed a company called Virginia Uranium, are asking the state to determine whether mining uranium really is a hazard and, if not, to lift the ban. But they've run into a brick wall of environmental activists who raise the specter of nuclear contamination and who are determined to prevent scientific studies of the issue.
Let me see if I have this right -- America can't drill for oil, can't build refineries, can't build nuclear power plants, can't build coal fired power plants -- OK so what can we do? Add to the list we can't mine uranium. But we can pay $700 billion a year to terror states for energy. We can burn food and build useless windmills, and electric cars, which will never deliver what they promise.

Ever heard of things this stupid?

One more thing, warmism == Communism, and Obama is a Communist, the chosen one to enslave the people of America.

Lefties Still Trying To Get Uganda To Stop DDT Use

Why would they do that? My guess is Uganda is tired of being saddled with the curse of malaria on their people and have decided to act. Since we now know the whole of the DDT scare was a hoax -- Rachael Carson had no facts, only pseudo-science which has no been proved wrong. Real scientific investigations have yield no harmful effects from use of DDT, Uganda sees no reason to cow down to the environmental Marxists. Why should they?
Report asks Uganda govt to shelve aside DDT use

Last year, the Uganda Government launched a programme to spray DDT and a pyrethroid called Lambda-Cyhalothrin to eradicate malaria, which is the leading cause of death in Uganda. But erratic spraying of DDT could make mosquitoes resistant to the insecticide and render the fight against malaria ineffective.

As a means to eradicate mosquitoes, the Government launched an indoor spraying of DDT in several malaria-prone districts in south-western and northern Uganda.

However, the High Court stopped the spraying, after farmers, traders and conservationists successfully filed a petition.

This, Dr. Nelson Musoba, the vice-chairperson of the panel which compiled the report, said was dangerous.
The environmental Marxist use the same tactic, get some dumb judge to issue an order, you have to wonder who pays the judge off. Shameful behavior of one human to another.

The blood of the millions of dead African children from malaria is on the hands of these nuts. Gaia would not be pleased.

UPDATE: By request, the lies of Rachael Carson ...

Some science readings : J. Gordon Edwards, professor of entomology at San Jose State University in California, has taught biology and entomology there for 43 years. He is a long-time member of the Sierra Club and the Audubon Society and is a fellow of the California Academy of Sciences has the list … Enjoy … the annotated list of Rachael Carson lies, or if you wish, the most egregious 'mistakes', is here.

Is Bush Batman

Andrew Klavan at the WSJ provides an Interesting comparison ...
The answers to these questions seem to me to be embedded in the story of "The Dark Knight" itself: Doing what's right is hard, and speaking the truth is dangerous. Many have been abhorred for it, some killed, one crucified.

Leftists frequently complain that right-wing morality is simplistic. Morality is relative, they say; nuanced, complex. They're wrong, of course, even on their own terms.

Left and right, all Americans know that freedom is better than slavery, that love is better than hate, kindness better than cruelty, tolerance better than bigotry. We don't always know how we know these things, and yet mysteriously we know them nonetheless.

The true complexity arises when we must defend these values in a world that does not universally embrace them -- when we reach the place where we must be intolerant in order to defend tolerance, or unkind in order to defend kindness, or hateful in order to defend what we love.
Powerful stuff, huge box office. Could be.

Rush Knows

Rush Limbaugh on his radio show yesterday sums up what Obama is all about ...
OBAMA: People of Berlin, people of the world, this is our moment. This is our time. I know my country has not perfected itself. (cheers) At times we struggle to keep the promise of liberty and equality for all of our people, we've made our share of mistakes, and there are times when our actions around the world have not lived up to our best intentions.
This is the premise, it's all America's fault, and the guy with the Marxists Pappy from Kenya is going to fix it.
RUSH: Okay. So now he has to go apologize for the United States of America. What is it? He's black, he's running for President of the United States, "We haven't perfected ourselves." You know, that's a key phrase, by the way, is one of the things that drives liberalism is the fact that they think people and institutions can be perfected. They think they can be perfect. And when nothing is perfect, then everything's wrong. But this is just beyond the pale. He's talking to Germans and making excuses for the United States of America, which to this day defends and protects Germany? (interruption) Exactly right. This is insulting. It is demeaning. "We have made our share of mistakes. There are times when our actions around the world have not lived up to our best intentions." This is Iraq. But he's not a candidate, folks. He's just a guy strolling through the forest there who happened to see a microphone and a podium.

He says, "Oh, there's about 100,000 people out there. I think I'll go make a speech." This is change. But ladies and gentlemen, if you are wondering when you hear Obama talk about change, this is it. The change is: America sucks, America's deficient, America's guilty, but America is now willing to pay the price because we have a Messiah who understands the faults, the egregious errors made by the United States and her people. We are racists, sexists, bigots, homophobes. We discriminate against people who worship differently than we do, have skin color different from ours, and we have not always behaved properly in the world. And we torture. And we, of course, are biased against people who want to get into our country illegally. We have a lot to pay for. Not to mention that we are primarily the country responsible for climate change, shrinking the Atlantic coastline, melting the Arctic ice. This is the change. You want change? This is the change. Now, I think he knew he was on some thin ice. So this was next.
As I see it America doesn't need Obama for anything. It was a fitting place to take the cult of personality tour -- Germans have a habit going head over heels for cults of personality.

$845 Billion wasted and not one power plant. How cool is that, all those poverty people can still walk around with mosquitoes coming out of every bush, defenseless, hey the tyrants and dictators think that part is cool, in darkest Africa, only we will give the head tyrants and dictators money to spend on the people. Right, sure, they wouldn't do with the money what the UN did with the Iraq Oil for WMDs program, now would they?

Obama's Experience Doesn't Match Up

Most people watching the stumbling, bumbling Obama on his world campfire trip conclude "WOW, he doesn't even know much about America, much less the world". His experience in international relations, just doesn't stack up. Nor can it, he has none. Apparently Sr Community Organizer in Chicago, a chocolate city, isn't significant enough experience to learn how the world works.

The WSJ picks it up from there.
Heading off on his week-long, high-profile tour of seven countries, Barack Obama defined the first part of the trip's purpose by telling reporters, "I want to, obviously, talk to the commanders and get a sense, both in Afghanistan and in Baghdad of . . . what . . . their biggest concerns are."

While the Iraqi effort is almost exclusively American now, Afghanistan is a NATO mission. Sen. Obama, chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on European and NATO affairs, had never visited Afghanistan, and has not bothered to hold a hearing of the subcommittee covering the countries for which it bears legislative oversight responsibility.
So what to do, well for starters he lies about what he has done while on the job in the Senate for 143 days before deciding to spend all his time running for President. Experience my arse, he has none. He just has the experiences he gained from the leftists in college and the teachings of his Marxist dad, Communism and all it's failed glory.

Explains why Obambi looks like a 'deer in the headlights' on his world mystery tour.

Fossil Suggests Antarctica Much Warmer in Past

A college student's new discovery of fossils collected in the East Antarctic suggests that the frozen polar cap was once a much balmier place.

The well-preserved fossils of ostracods, a type of small crustaceans, came from the Dry Valleys region of Antarctica's Transantarctic Mountains and date from about 14 million years ago. The fossils were a rare find, showing all of the ostracods' soft anatomy in 3-D.

The fossils were discovered by Richard Thommasson during screening of the sediment in research team member Allan Ashworth's lab at North Dakota State University.

Because ostracods couldn't survive in the current Antarctic climate, their presence suggests that the southern-most continent hasn't always been as frigid as it is today.

"Present conditions in this Antarctic region show mean annual temperatures of minus 25 degrees C (Celsius) [minus 13 degrees Fahrenheit]," said Mark Williams of the University of Leicester, co-author with Ashworth of the fossil-find report in the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society B. "These are impossible conditions to sustain a lake fauna with ostracods."

The authors think the ostracods and the habitat they lived in were the last vestiges of a tundra ecosystem, similar to those found in Patagonia, that once thrived in Antarctic coastal regions, before an intense period of cooling gave rise to the Antarctic environment we see today.

While geologists theorize that the land that now makes up Antarctica was once a part of other continents closer to the equator-hundreds of millions of years ago-the warmer climate that supported the ostracods would have existed "when Antarctica was pretty much in its current location," said study co-author David Marchant of Boston University.

Marchant estimated that the summer temperatures in Antarctica would have been about 30.6 degrees F (17 degrees C) warmer than they are now.

No one knows why the cooling took place, but it did.

This warmer period started to end when the first continent-sized ice sheets began appearing on Antarctica around 34 million years ago, around the end of the Eocene epoch. These ice sheets expanded and contracted until around 14 million years ago, during the Miocene epoch, when a dramatic cooling took place and transformed the tundra into an environment "that today looks like Mars," Marchant told LiveScience.

Marchant said climatologists are uncertain exactly what caused this intense period of cooling.

Which BTW, continues today, in the form of recurring ice ages.

The research was funded by the National Science Foundation.

Positive Feedbacks

What if I were to tell you that the entire case for man caused global warming(AGW) were to rest on two papers written by two scientists, and they provide no proof for their conclusions. Not thousands of scientists concurring on the facts, but a couple of scientists, whose work is done at the auspices of the UN. That fact is now becoming widely known. This fools game, relying on theory for both your hypothesis and the evidence you need to support it, is not science it's a hoax offered for lay people to consume.

From Monckton's paper ...
"It is of no little significance that the IPCC’s value for the coefficient in the CO2 forcing equation depends on only one paper in the literature; that its values for the feedbacks that it believes account for two-thirds of humankind’s effect on global temperatures are likewise taken from only one paper; and that its implicit value of the crucial parameter κ depends upon only two papers, one of which had been written by a lead author of the chapter in question, and neither of which provides any theoretical or empirical justification for a value as high as that which the IPCC adopted."
Another eye-opener is his explanation of how the believers' climate models are verified:
"Since we cannot measure any individual forcing directly in the atmosphere, the models draw upon results of laboratory experiments in passing sunlight through chambers in which atmospheric constituents are artificially varied," writes Monckton. "Such experiments are, however, of limited value when translated into the real atmosphere, where radiative transfers and non-radiative transports (convection and evaporation up, advection along, subsidence and precipitation down), as well as altitudinal and latitudinal asymmetries, greatly complicate the picture."

In other words, an unproven hypothesis is fed into a computer, nothing wrong with that, but it can only be verified against experiments that have no resemblance to the chaotic real world system of Earth's climate. It is not hard to see how the scientists could produce an immaculate "model" that's theoretically perfect in every respect, all the equations balance, and it may even be programmed to offer perfect "hind-casting", but which has no practical predictive value at all. It's safe from the rude intrusion of empirical evidence drawn from atmospheric observation.

The proof comes when predictive results are compared to the empirical data, and sadly they do not match 'at all'. Engineers call it GIGO.

Arctic Oil

I assume everyone already knew this, the Arctic has vast reserves of oil.
A new study suggests the equivalent of 112 billion barrels of oil lies undiscovered underneath the sea ice and frigid waters of North America’s Arctic, adding new urgency to the debate over control of those resources.

The report released Wednesday by the United States Geological Survey has for the first time put some hard numbers behind the energy potential of the North.

Total undiscovered global reserves north of the Arctic Circle are estimated at 412 billion barrels of oil equivalent — most off the coast of Russia. That’s about one-third of the world’s undiscovered gas and about one-sixth of its undiscovered oil.

“That’s huge,” said William Lacey, director of FirstEnergy Capital, a Calgary energy analysis firm. “It’s massive in terms of the resource.

“It highlights why there’s some potential boundary disputes in the North.”
And what do we have to show for it, a loser from San Francisco and Harry Reid another loser from Nevada, who wants to drive the country into the sewer of environmental Marxism? Who made these freaks king? America is a representative republic, not a dictatorship.

Oh yeah, someone tell the EIB clown, Boxer that the AGW theorey is dead, deader than can be. All that is left is for it to fall over on it's face.

Obambi Tells Couric The Surge Was Bad Strategy

Of really, jive talking con man Obambi, maybe you would like to explain this.

Or this “Israel is a strong friend of Israel’s.”Obambi

I wonder, do people notice, Obambi's judgement is no good.

Pres Bush Rescinds the Offshore Oil Drilling Ban

Supply, demand, Pres Bush lifts the ban on July 14, 2008. Oil has dropped $21 a barrel since then. Who is going to step forward and alert the public, the supply is going up, the price is coming down -- Miracle.

Oil is now $126.25 a barrel.

The record, reached July 11, was $147.27 a barrel.

Has anyone seen the headline, "oil prices drop $21 a barrel in two weeks"?

Who is playing who? Your turn Congress you get until September 30, 2008 when the current ban expires ... We're waiting for you.

UPDATE: McCain, taking Rush Limbaugh's advice, has decided to visit an offshore oil rig tomorrow and talk up offshore drilling. No word on ANWR.

The WSJ adds this to the stage Democrats and Energy: Reality Bites

Ho, ho. But oil prices have fallen since President Bush announced his support for more drilling. And polls these days are shifting overwhelmingly in favor of it. More than two-thirds of Americans support expanding drilling along the coasts, and 59% approve of drilling in the Artic National Wildlife Refuge, according to a Reuters-Zogby poll. The worst news for Democrats is that support for drilling is now a majority opinion even in their own constituency.

Silky Pony Put Out To Pasture

Character, it's all about character, it's only about character.

While most everyone was showing sympathy for Ms. Edwards and her fate, incurable cancer, the Silky Pony had other plans ...
Vice Presidential candidate Sen. John Edwards was caught visiting his mistress and secret love child at 2:40 this morning in a Los Angeles hotel by the NATIONAL ENQUIRER.

The married ex-senator from North Carolina - whose wife Elizabeth continues to battle cancer -- met with his mistress, blonde divorcée Rielle Hunter, at the Beverly Hilton on Monday night, July 21 - and the NATIONAL ENQUIRER was there! He didn't leave until early the next morning.
Now do a google search of the news on the woman's name "Rielle Hunter" and what do you find? Bloggers have the story, the drive by media won't touch a Democrat in trouble -- Proof positive.

Plenty of people have known since 2007 that Silky was steppin out ... Any more wonder why the drive by media is losing it's punch? Can't believe a word of what they say anymore, it's just DNC pressers all the time.

'Rig' The Election

Reid and Pelosi do not care a thing about you, your family, their well being -- All they care about is their ability to dictate to you how you are to live and behave. Well, at least your library card is safe, you didn't fall for that did you?

IBD has an editorial about the impending September 30 deadline. When Pres Bush rescinded the executive Branch prohibition on offshore oil exploration and production, that left stand the Congressional ban. But the Congressional ban expires, unless renewed each year. It's the day Democrats have to put up or shut up.

The oil companies are sitting on nothing. It's the Democrats who are sitting on our energy future.

Let's vote on it in Congress this September and then cast a vote on Congress this November.

Warmist Suffered Humiliating Defeat

Ofcom, the U.K. television regulator, has rendered a remarkable decision. People interested in what was actually decided will, unfortunately, have to consult the original judgment at Ofcom, rather than the BBC accounts (here, here) of the judgment.

The issue was one of trying to get the program "The Great Global Warming Swindle" declared unfit for viewing, a farce, a lie. But instead, it was found the film was true, a few instances the views of various scientists, likely changed after the fact, were found to have been misrepresented. But by and large, the film is correct in it's portrayal of the hoax as a 'big lie'.

Steve McIntyre at Climate Audit has more.

Buy the DVD later this month here. The TV station CH4 which originally aired the film is here.

The trailer, condensed version.

The Internet age will not allow the lefty's lies to stand unchallenged, regardless what the drive by media does.

South East U.S. Drilling Bans

The zones in red are the banned areas. The Destin Dome, known to contain huge quantities of natural gas, is the west most area of the Florida banned area. Why these bans are in place? Democrat enablers and their environmental Marxists. Does anyone think you could see a well head 25 miles out from the beaches. And what about the fish magnets the drilling rigs and wells would make? Wouldn't that spur tourist fishing and trips offshore? You bet it would.

Blowing The Whistle On The AGW Hoax

David Evans was a consultant to the "Australian Greenhouse Office" from 1999 to 2005. He is a former global warming alarmist; however, he is also a scientist who goes where the evidence leads him. In this important article in The Australian, he blows the whistle on the fraud that many of the world's governments are in the midst of perpetrating:

I DEVOTED six years to carbon accounting, building models for the Australian Greenhouse Office. I am the rocket scientist who wrote the carbon accounting model (FullCAM) that measures Australia's compliance with the Kyoto Protocol, in the land use change and forestry sector.

FullCAM models carbon flows in plants, mulch, debris, soils and agricultural products, using inputs such as climate data, plant physiology and satellite data. I've been following the global warming debate closely for years.

When I started that job in 1999 the evidence that carbon emissions caused global warming seemed pretty good: CO2 is a greenhouse gas, the old ice core data, no other suspects.

The evidence was not conclusive, but why wait until we were certain when it appeared we needed to act quickly? Soon government and the scientific community were working together and lots of science research jobs were created. We scientists had political support, the ear of government, big budgets, and we felt fairly important and useful (well, I did anyway). It was great. We were working to save the planet.

But since 1999 new evidence has seriously weakened the case that carbon emissions are the main cause of global warming, and by 2007 the evidence was pretty conclusive that carbon played only a minor role and was not the main cause of the recent global warming. As Lord Keynes famously said, "When the facts change, I change my mind. What do you do, sir?"

There has not been a public debate about the causes of global warming and most of the public and our decision makers are not aware of the most basic salient facts.

You really need to read the whole thing to get the full impact, but here are a few highlights: The first point is important, CO2 greenhouse effects has a distinct signature in the atmosphere, especially in the tropics, it should show up -- It is not there.

1. The greenhouse signature is missing. We have been looking and measuring for years, and cannot find it.

Each possible cause of global warming has a different pattern of where in the planet the warming occurs first and the most. The signature of an increased greenhouse effect is a hot spot about 10km up in the atmosphere over the tropics. We have been measuring the atmosphere for decades using radiosondes: weather balloons with thermometers that radio back the temperature as the balloon ascends through the atmosphere. They show no hot spot. Whatsoever.

If there is no hot spot then an increased greenhouse effect is not the cause of global warming. So we know for sure that carbon emissions are not a significant cause of the global warming. ...

2. There is no evidence to support the idea that carbon emissions cause significant global warming. None. ...

3. The satellites that measure the world's temperature all say that the warming trend ended in 2001, and that the temperature has dropped about 0.6C in the past year (to the temperature of 1980). ...

4. The new ice cores show that in the past six global warmings over the past half a million years, the temperature rises occurred on average 800 years before the accompanying rise in atmospheric carbon. Which says something important about which was cause and which was effect. ...

The last point was known and past dispute by 2003, yet Al Gore made his movie in 2005 and presented the ice cores as the sole reason for believing that carbon emissions cause global warming. In any other political context our cynical and experienced press corps would surely have called this dishonest and widely questioned the politician's assertion. ..

What is going to happen over the next decade as global temperatures continue not to rise? The Labor Government is about to deliberately wreck the economy in order to reduce carbon emissions. If the reasons later turn out to be bogus, the electorate is not going to re-elect a Labor government for a long time. When it comes to light that the carbon scare was known to be bogus in 2008, the ALP is going to be regarded as criminally negligent or ideologically stupid for not having seen through it.

The same will be repeated fro any U.S. President that ruins the economy in the name of the global warming religion. And that goes for McCain as well.

Maliki Doesn't Endorse Obama Troop Withdrawal Plan

We enter the land of drive by media make believe, if the truth doesn't fit, just make it up.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki hasn't endorsed any specific plan for the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, a government spokesman said, a day after a magazine report that he backed Barack Obama's proposal. In fact, al Maliki has endorsed Bush's metrics based plan, whereby U.S. troops will be withdrawn based on conditions on the ground.

If Iraq had endorsed Obambi's plan, there would be no for Obamabi to go to Iraq, because all there would be there are terrorists. Who are now mostly dead terrorists.

How's The Election Coverage

Just one voter in four (24%) believes that most reporters will try to offer unbiased coverage. It would appear the rest of the people are actually paying attention to what is going on.

Obambi's a Foreign Policy Experience

This is just too much to keep to yourself ...

At a campaign stop in November, Obama told an Iowa audience that "probably the strongest experience I have in foreign relations is the fact that I spent four years living overseas when I was a child in Southeast Asia."

advertisement

Obama said his time there, and the fact that his father was from Kenya, gave him the knowledge "of how ordinary people in these other countries live."

Later, Obama said the point he was trying to make in Iowa is that his time overseas "gives me some judgment and perspective around what other people think about America and how they might react or respond when we make some of the decisions that we make."
Obambi spent four years in grammar school overseas and now he understands how the world works. Searching for the ignorant vote, I assume. One thing Obambi doesn't have is judgement.

Off Teleprompter == Idiot

My guess -- they didn't teach American History in Kenya or Indonesia.
"The objective of this trip was to have substantive discussions with people like President Karzai or Prime Minister Maliki or President Sarkozy or others who I expect to be dealing with over the next eight to 10 years."
Then you add the 57 States quote ... and you have a perosn too dumb to be an American, much less President.

Do the words, snob, arrogant, condescending come to mind? And I am not talking about his wife.

Numbers are Rising, Even In California

Polls nationwide say people are coming to their sense regarding the stupid bans on drilling, building refineries and new nuclear power plants. The latest from California Field Poll
A strong majority, 63 percent, want shipping terminals to import liquefied natural gas, a condensed and super-cooled fuel that critics say can turn into a fireball if it leaks.

Fifty-one percent still oppose offshore drilling. But that opposition appears to be softening. The last time the Field Poll asked about offshore drilling, in 2005, 56 percent of Californians opposed it.

California law prohibits new nuclear plants within the state until the country has a long-term solution for handling radioactive waste. But Orange County Assemblyman Chuck DeVore said Californians are starting to see the technology as a way to cut greenhouse gas emissions. For the past two years, he has pushed legislation to lift the moratorium and says he will do so again.
Those changes in sentiment could have big political ramifications. Energy costs are becoming a crucial issue in the presidential campaign.

It's becoming clear how the Democrat Marxists and the environmental Marxist work hand in hand to build a phoney façade of scaremongering and panic to prevent new energy from coming to the market.

There Goes The Consensus

The AGW consensus, That never was, now is kaput. It had to happen. Too much evidence has been presented against CO2 as a cause of the modern warming. The temperature is falling, the sky is not. But the last starw came last week, when the APS, a society of about 50,000 physicist, decided to withdraw their support of AGW and open the debate floor to all comers. The hoax is now on the ropes.

In a posting to the APS forum, editor Jeffrey Marque explains,"There is a considerable presence within the scientific community of people who do not agree with the IPCC conclusion that anthropogenic CO2 emissions are very probably likely to be primarily responsible for global warming that has occurred since the Industrial Revolution."

The crowning blow -- After nine years of non-warming, the planet actually began to cool in 2007 and 2008 for the first time in 30 years. The net warming from 1940 to 1998 had been a minuscule 0.2 degree C, the UK’s Hadley Centre says earth’s temperature has now dropped back down to about the levels of 100 years ago. Thus there has been no net global warming in living memory.

Now maybe we can have a full debate of the science, we have had quite enough scaremongering from the computers.

Democrats And Energy

Congressional Democrat Marxists have been blocking oil drilling by making monuments of the oil bearing ground, examples of pollution of all new refineries and scaremongering new nuclear power plant construction by constricting options for waste storage. Can't people think for themselves any more?

NRO's David Freddoso has some helpful hints.
In the novel 1984, George Orwell used the word “doublethink” to describe the process of believing two contradictory ideas simultaneously. The concept invites an appropriate but superficial comparison to congressional Democrats’ current approach to gasoline prices.
The best for last
The OCS drilling ban expires on September 30, with the Department of the Interior’s fiscal 2008 appropriations. Although House sources believe it will almost certainly be renewed, that renewal will create another political pressure point on a good Republican issue close to this year’s election.
Renew the offshore drilling ban ban or lose the ban, nice bind you have there. The people will be watching.

What To Make Of This?

Michelle Obama said in Pontiac, Mich., on Wednesday that if her husband is elected he will offer more than a "quick fix" on the economy.

"You're getting $600 — what can you do with that? Not to be ungrateful or anything, but maybe it pays down a bill, but it doesn't pay down every bill every month," she said. "The short-term quick fix kinda stuff sounds good, and it may even feel good that first month when you get that check, and then you go out and you buy a pair of earrings."

$600 ear rings, you want snob, this just oozes snob -- I don't think my wife owns a pair of $600 ear rings, but the total lack of real world perspective from the Obama's is breathtakingly clear.

Oh and what is Obama offering, taxes, taxes and more taxes. Now that is going to be really good for the economy isn't it. Add lack of comprehension about the economy, to total lack of understanding of freedom and liberty to the Obama mystic.

Rascism In America

What do you see in the above cartoon?

In the latest New York Times poll, only 5% of black voters have a favorable opinion of John McCain. That seems to be a big problem with black racism. You know, you can have a favorable opinion of a person and still not vote for him. I have a favorable opinion of Obama, but his policies are not good for America. He does not understand capitalism, freedom and liberty, and for me, that's all it takes for a no vote. Let the ridicule roll, same with John F'n Kerry, who was also in Vietnam.

Oh by the way, when you read the headline, you will find it's all about white racism, but the numbers tell a different story. The data is here, do your own spelunking for the facts and draw your own conclusions.

Just another example of how spin makes the story one thing, and the facts tell a different tale.

New Lows

Congress's approval rating is now 14 percent.

Congress' job approval rating has dropped five percentage points over the past month, from 19% in June to 14% in July, making the current reading the lowest congressional job approval rating in the 34-year Gallup Poll history of asking the question. The previous low was 18%, last reached in May.
75% disapproval.

Virgin territory, after bottoming out in May last year, Nancy and Harry decided to try to better it, they did.

That would be historic lows for the Reid-Pelosi Congress. This should be a gift to the Republican congressional-election committees, if anyone over there knew how to take advantage of it.

Looking they are going to run the table has hit a few snags on the way to installing Marxism. Nothing like destroying the economy, which has been the plan of Democrats for 30 years, to get folks attention.

Obambi's Iraq Problem

Turns out it's a judgement problem.

Coal to Liquids, Natural Gas to Liquids

Turning coal into liquid gasoline and diesel transport fuel was developed in the 1920s, the process is generally referred to as the indirect coal-to-liquids (CTL) gasification, formally known as the Fischer-Tropsch (FT) synthesis process after the scientists who invented it. In the 1930s Germany recognized their vulnerability to oil cutoffs in wartime and put the process into mass production -- Germany has plenty of coal reserves.

But since that time, it's been all oil, all the time. At least while oil was cheap.

In a few weeks China will start production on their first large coal to liquids demonstration plant, which will be followed up by full scale production models to be built in the next few years.

Coal to liquids is proven technology and can deliver transport fuels at under $40 a barrel equivalent oil prices.

The Republicans are going to try again, After the no drill Democrats have repeatedly blocked efforts to drill and build new refineries ... Notice the push for coal to liquids.

Senators Introduce Bill to Increase Domestic Oil and Natural Gas Production; Coal-Derived Fuel Mandate

US Senator Pete Domenici (R-NM), ranking member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, introduced the American Energy Production Act of 2008 (S.2958) to increase domestic production of oil and natural gas and to fund the development of oil shale and coal-to-liquids technology. Eighteen other senators co-sponsored. Included in the bill is language for a coal-derived fuels mandate.

The bill would open up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) as well as the Atlantic and Pacific regions of the Outer Continental Shelf for exploration and production; and lift the one-year moratorium on developing oil shale in Colorado, Wyoming and Utah.

I saw a short presser with Sen Dominici talking about his legislation, he stated Sen Reid said no drilling this year. So who is blocking the energy supply -- Same Democrat MArxists who have been doing it for 30 years.

Another use for natural gas, using similar processes

In Qatar, they are near completion of South Africa's Sasol joint venture plant in Qatar to produce gas to liquids oils production facility. This plant takes natural gas and turns it into oil for machinery, autos and other uses. Sasol is the world's biggest maker of motor oil from coal.

Here is your question of the day, why is it when the USA has about 25% of the world's coal supply we don't do the same? Coal to liquid fuel is mature technology, and doesn't require you to burn your food.

More here about Qatar and their gasification plant. Search google for China's similar ventures.

How nuclear power can help relieve future supply constraints with transport fuel

Currently, the generally favored fuel for power plants is natural gas, a clean but limited supply fuel. Natural gas also has a place as transport fuel. Natural gas can be used directly in automobile and trucks or used as feed stock for a liquefaction process which can produce gasoline and diesel. With transport fuel in short supply, using natural gas for fixed plant electricity makes little sense, when nuclear power serves that role much cheaper. Nuclear power makes even more economic sense when you do as the French do, reprocess the spent fuel. By statue, the US cannot do this. Another Democrat Marxist surprise for the unwary.

Energy, And Why US policy has restricted the Supply

President Bush has lifted the Presidential Offshore Restriction, placed on offshore exploration and production in 1990, by President Bush.
President George W. Bush said today he's lifting a presidential ban on drilling for oil and natural gas on the U.S. Outer Continental Shelf, setting up a showdown with Congress over a separate ban it put in place in the 1980s.

``Today I've taken every step within my power to allow offshore exploration of the OCS,'' Bush said in a statement at the White House. ``This means the only thing standing between the American people and these vast oil resources is action by the U.S. Congress.''

Democratic leaders in both houses of Congress rejected the president's call, saying the move to end the moratorium would have no effect on prices and better options are available.
And that is the problem, isn't it? The Democrat Marxists don't want you to have the energy you need for your growth, the economy's growth, and America's growth. I never thought I would see the day that Americans stood in the way of their country, but we are there now. Environmental Marxism, it's full impact is being felt and that is not a good plan for America.

The Institute For Energy Research has the Details.
IER president Thomas Pyle issued the following statement:

“The president is eliminating one of the largest barriers standing in the way of new energy supplies, but the biggest one still remains, and it lies in the hands of the Congress,” Pyle said. “Fortunately, we appear to be nearing the end of nearly three decades of short-sighted, one-size-fits-all policies that restrict access to domestic supplies despite explosive global demand. The lack of a commonsense offshore energy policy has placed this country in economic and strategic peril. Ending these bans will send a strong signal to the rest of the world that America is finally getting serious about producing more of its own energy.”

Federal law has prohibited American energy production on most of the OCS since 1982. With President Bush’s rescinding of the executive moratorium today, the only ban that remains is known as the Congressional Moratorium. It comes in the form of an annual appropriations rider in Congress, which expires – and must be renewed – every year. Congress has enacted OCS energy bans every year since 1981.
Now if we will only get moving and start building nuclear power plants and revitalizing our power grid, we would be in fine shape in 5 years. We need a Manhattan project to get more supply of American energy. That's the one good thing that McCain has said, build nuclear power plants, he just didn't go far enough -- We should build 100s and we should get the regulation and environmental whacko path cleared for safe nuclear power. One act of Congress would do that, you think for a minute Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid would do that?

Vote Democrats out of office, for America's future.

Immigration Enforcement Is Terrorism

Now why would anyone think that was the case?

Sorry answered my own question. Violate the law, and the law enforcement is terrorism. Really odd, this duck is.

Schwarzenegger Blasts Bush on Global Warming

This administration did not believe in global warming,” Schwarzenegger told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos in an exclusive interview that will air Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.”

That’s true, everybody knows President Bush is a Christian, don’t they? And that Christians have only one God.

Schwarzenegger wants everyone to ‘believe’, that way he can raise taxes in the name of that belief, which repairs his stupidity in budgeting and deficits. Which BTW, under California law, the State cannot have a deficit.

Pay more in taxes for the belief, so government can pretend to control the weather. It’s all about taxes.

If you want to read the rest of Schwarzenegger’s stupidity, it’s here, but why bother. You should already know the ‘believer’s’ lies.

Now you know why California is going in the toilet.

Financial Crisis Deepens as Big Bank Fails

UPDATE: 6:30 PM ...
The immediate cause of the closing was a deposit run that began and continued after the public release of a June 26 letter to the OTS and the FDIC from Senator Charles Schumer of New York.
More here from the Feds.

The biggest whiner in the Senate, forever telling us that the Bush administration doesn't tell us anything, now we know why that is. They are irresponsible idiots. Everyone knows Sen Schumer has a big mouth, and generally nothing but lies for facts. It's just how it is in the liberal flat Earth society. The collapse of IndyMac Bank he may have gone over the line.
IndyMac Bank, a prolific mortgage specialist that helped fuel the housing boom, was seized Friday by federal regulators, in the third-largest bank failure in U.S. history.

IndyMac is the biggest mortgage lender to go under since a fall in housing prices and surge in defaults began rippling through the economy last year -- and it likely won't be the last. Banking regulators are bracing for a slew of failures over the next year as analysts say housing prices have yet to bottom out.

The collapse is expected to cost the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. between $4 billion and $8 billion, potentially wiping out more than 10% of the FDIC's $53 billion deposit-insurance fund.

The Pasadena, Calif., thrift was one of the largest savings and loans in the country, with about $32 billion in assets. It now joins an infamous list of collapsed banks, topped by Continental Illinois National Bank & Trust Co., which failed in 1984 with $40 billion of assets. The second-largest failure was American Savings & Loan Association of Stockton, Calif., in 1988.
Triggering a run on the bank's asset's -- It was all about BDS and grandstandinmg, wasn't it op-Chuck? If you had any doubts about Sen Schumer being an irresponsible idiot, this should clear those doubts up.
The director of the Office of Thrift Supervision, John Reich, blamed IndyMac's failure on comments made in late June by Sen. Charles Schumer (D., N.Y.), who sent a letter to the regulator raising concerns about the bank's solvency. In the following 11 days, spooked depositors withdrew a total of $1.3 billion. Mr. Reich said Sen. Schumer gave the bank a "heart attack."

"Would the institution have failed without the deposit run?" Mr. Reich asked reporters. "We'll never know the answer to that question."
So can he be prosecuted for triggering the collaspe and why nt. In case you didn't notice, Schumer's big mougth costs the I.S> Treasury $4-8 billion and all uninsured depositers everything over $100,000. I doubt this kind of irresponsible action is covered by the 'debate' clause of the U.S. Constitution.

Short History Lesson

I wonder what happened to the secret plan to lower gas prices that Pelosi talked about before the 2006 election?

ANWR, The Wasteland

ANWR coastal plain, the world's largest mosquito refuge.

As with most things Democrat, it's a lie. Al Gore wanted the government to artificiality raise gas prices to $5 a gallon? They have nearly reached their goal.

If you are stupid, vote Democrat -- President Clinton 10 years ago vetoed a bill that would have allowed drilling in Alaska in an area thousands of square meters that today could be producing 1 million barrels of oil a day. Filling today's less than half used capacity Alaska Pipeline.
