What Obama Can Learn From Communist China
Strong fiscal revenue growth has long been deemed as solid evidence of the Chinese economy's resilience as last year's double-digit increase in fiscal revenue clearly shows.
But if China is to boost consumer-led growth by improving income distribution, policymakers must take another examination at the current rise in fiscal revenues.
Yes, more taxes do enable the government to better finance public investment and expand public services. But a bigger tax burden can also undermine the country's endeavor to change its growth model by relying more on domestic spending than on investment and export for growth.
During most of 2009, tax and financial authorities had repeatedly expressed their worries about how to meet the fiscal revenue growth target of 8 percent that was regarded as necessary for budgetary concerns.
As the worst global recession in more than 70 years slowed China's economic growth to 6.1 percent in the first quarter of 2009, the lowest in a decade, the country's fiscal revenue shrank 8.3 percent over the same period last year.
And Obama says ??

China's National Flag To Go Up At White House on Sept 20
UPDATE: The White House now says this is not true ... Sunlight, the best disinfectant ?? The part about the number of murdered people by the Chinese Communist is still true.
The story came from the Chinese state run media, so you decide. One of the few functioning U.S. press outlets, FNC reports:
The White House on Friday dismissed as inaccurate reports from China that the administration will mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic by flying the Chinese flag on the South Lawn.
China Daily, citing other media reports, claimed the president of the Fujian Association of the United States had been granted permission to hoist the flag "in a ceremony in front of the President's residence."
A ceremony, indeed, will take place. But it won't happen on the White House grounds -- rather, on the Ellipse, on the other side of E Street from the presidential residence.
In honor of the 70 odd millions executed by the Chinese PRC, we honor their progress with a White House ceremony. Probably won't see this on the front age of the Washington Post.
Exactly what country are you president of Mr Obama again?
Why do you feel the urge to embrace every genocidal murdering regime, every tin-pot dictator? Is there something in your upbringing that requires you to behave like that? Did the Rev Wright have that much influence on shaping you? Did living in the Muslim military junta Indnesia acquaiot you with the concept of ruler, dictator and you liked that?
What about the concepts of freedom and liberty, that which America was founded, has stood for since, and will once again stand for after you are gone. Can you not pronounce the word freedom?
The national flag of the People's Republic of China (PRC) will be hoisted at the South Lawn of the White House in Washington on September 20, media reported Sunday.
Chinese associations in the United States had applied to hold a ceremony in front of the US President’s residence to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of PRC.
Chen Ronghua, chairman of Fujian Association of the United States, told reporters that their application was approved not only because of the sound Sino-US relations but also because China is a responsible country.
"Many Americans admire China due to the success of last year’s Beijing Olympics," said Chen.
More than 1,000 people will attend the ceremony and the performances held after it, according to Zhao Luqun, who will direct the performances.
Zhao said the performances will demonstrate the friendship, magnanimous spirit and kindness of modern Chinese people.
My guess is few Americans know how many the Chinese Communist dictatorships has murdered. One researcher, puts the number of PRC Democide deaths at over 70,000,000. It's clearly in the tens of millions, why would a President of a free country, that stands for individual liberty, honor that?
The PRC is just the latest Communist Chinese 'name change' to try and whitewash the past.
Just begs the question -- Why would Obama do this?

China's Nuclear Strategy
The Shandong Nuclear Power Co. and Westinghouse broke ground on the project in Haiyang city Tuesday, a month earlier than scheduled, the companies said in a joint press release carried by PR News Wire.
Westinghouse and France's Areva SA are competing to build as many as 26 reactors by the end of the next decade as China turns to atomic energy to cut pollution and reduce its reliance on oil.
Construction on two reactors in Sanmen in the eastern province of Zhejiang began in February, the release said.
So what about the U.S. what's the hold up?

The 'Pollution Olympics'

It's going to be interesting viewing watching the drive-by media try to paper over the obvious, China, is a terribly polluted place, anybody that has ever been there knows. An article of what is to come.
Sometimes it's the little stories that tell us the most. Consider the news of a keel-crippling algal bloom covering a third of the Olympic sailing course in Qingdao, China. While a small army of workers, a large armada of boats, and a full battalion of dump trucks and bulldozers are desperately trying to clear up this embarrassing counterpoint to China's claim of a "green games", international competitors desperate for practice are forced to stew in dry dock. The truth would do, but they have to preserve the hoax.
In fact, this kind of event is far from atypical in the world's most polluted nation. Today, fully 70% of China's seven major rivers are severely polluted, 80% of its rivers fail to meet standards for fishing, and 90% of the country's cities suffer from some degree of water pollution. As a result, over 700 million Chinese drink fetid water of a quality well below World Health Organization standards. Meanwhile, liver and stomach cancers related to water pollution are among the leading causes of death in the countryside, while 21 cities along the Yellow River are characterized by the highest measurable levels of pollution.
As for this particular - and particularly extensive - algal bloom in Qingdao, it is being caused in large part by equally massive misuse of fertilizer. As the world's largest fertilizer user, China consumes more than 50 million tonnes annually. Far too often, untrained peasants apply far too much fertilizer to their meager plots in the false hopes of boosting yields. The result has been a new kind of "flooding" problem, that of excess fertilizer runoff flooding into rivers and streams.

They're Number One
Been this way for some time, but it's nice the drive-by media is finally on board with the obvious. Another hoax dispelled.China has now clearly overtaken the United States as the world's leading emitter of climate-warming gases, a new study has found. The increasing emissions from China - up 8 percent in the past year - accounted for two-thirds of the growth in global greenhouse gas emissions in 2007, the study found.
Now if CO2 really were climate changing gas, that would be news. Did anybody in the drive-by media learn about photosynthesis when they were in school? Probably not.
