The Hunt For Fred November

FNC just dropped an update ...

FOX News has learned that Thompson, the former Tennessee senator, will report having raised in excess of $8 million dollars in this quarter of the fiscal year. That's in addition to $3.5 million he raised in June.

According to Thompson aides, the campaign raised $200,000 a day since "announcing" his candidacy after Labor Day. Thompson had more than 70,000 donors, which far outpaces most candidates in both fields in their first quarters as candidates.

70,000 donors, tells you where his strength is, doesn't it?

Mark Levin: Media Matters is a “criminal enterprise”

Mark is always subtle. I wonder who will be the first to sue, or better yet, why isn't some Conservative law group writing up the suit right now? A tax exempt corporation they are not, phhhuuut.

Liberalism Explained, Part 2

Raise taxes, fund socialism and ban guns. Not hard to understand Democrats.

Anatomy Of A Smear

Rush Limbaugh responds to smear tactics of the smear site Media Matters, a George Soros sponsored operation. Transcript
RUSH ARCHIVE: It’s not possible intellectually to follow these people.

CALLER: No, it’s not. And what’s really funny is they never talk to real soldiers. They like to pull these soldiers that come up out of the blue and spout to the media.

RUSH: The phony soldiers.

BREWER: Democratic Senator John Kerry is demanding an apology from Limbaugh, whose comments he calls “disgusting and an embarrassment.”
The soldier Rush was referring to was Jesse MacBeth, a soldier who has now been convicted of lying about his service. He was actually never a soldier in Iraq, he was discharged after 44 days in boot camp. As a hero of the anti-war types, he spun tall tales about his exploits as an US Army ranger, and the atrocities our soldiers committed. Jesse MacBeth and other other phony soldiers are darlings of the anti-war movement, which is what Rush was talking about. On September 21, 2007 Macbeth admitted in federal court that he had faked his war record. U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Sullivan declared that Macbeth had been in the Army for just 40 days and had been kicked out as unfit.

Another of these "phony soldiers" is the Private Scott Beauchamp who did not reveal that he was “Scott Thomas,” author of “Shock Troops,” until he was asked to sign a second sworn statement. The National Review printed those defaming articles without fact checking.

Phony soldiers, heros of the leftists.

Global Warming

Hundreds, possibly thousands of fires (locations marked in red) were burning in South America when the MODIS on NASA's Aqua satellite passed overhead on September 25, 2007, and captured this image. The most intense fire activity was in Bolivia, where fires are concentrated in the Santa Cruz Department, in the southeastern part of the country.

Although naturally occurring fires can occur in the savannas and dry woodlands of southern Bolivia and northern Paraguay, this type of intense, widespread burning is likely the result of human activities. Agricultural fires (for example, fires for brush or crop-residue clearing) can get out of control and spread to surrounding forests and other natural areas. Thick smoke is hanging over much of the scene.

I think we need to prioritize our fight on global warming with the cheapest most effective things being done first, starting with thee atrocities. We can talk about gas taxes and carbon taxes sometime in the future, after we clear the planet of these obvious problems.

Refresher, where the ice was 20,000 years ago, and the ice didn't melt because of CO2.
Carbon dioxide did not end the last Ice Age

Deep-sea temperatures rose 1,300 years before atmospheric CO2, ruling out the greenhouse gas as driver of meltdown, says study in Science.

Carbon dioxide did not cause the end of the last ice age, a new study in Science suggests, contrary to past inferences from ice core records.

“There has been this continual reference to the correspondence between CO2 and climate change as reflected in ice core records as justification for the role of CO2 in climate change,” said USC geologist Lowell Stott, lead author of the study, slated for advance online publication Sept. 27 in Science Express.

“You can no longer argue that CO2 alone caused the end of the ice ages.”

Deep-sea temperatures warmed about 1,300 years before the tropical surface ocean and well before the rise in atmospheric CO2, the study found. The finding suggests the rise in greenhouse gas was likely a result of warming and may have accelerated the meltdown – but was not its main cause.
That last sentence, agrees with what most say today, CO2 lags warming. What alGore says is not worth reading.

Running Out The CLock

la Nina is on the way. The above SST chart for September 24, 2007 tells the tale.

el Nino during much healthier times, the above SST chart is for December 8, 1997, when el Nino was rip roaring hot out in the mid Pacific region.

Not to be outdone, the Sun weighs in.

Sunspot cycle 24 is late, way late. Predictions are that it may not start up until November 2008. Ponder the Maunder, happened before, could happen again. Check out that Dalton minimum, where the sun just winked and didn't go completely blank, sort of a sleepy period for sunspots. Now that the amplification factor between sunspots and Earth''s weather has been proved to be cosmic rays, it's easier to understand how the feedback is working. Predictions and models, not likely to be accurate any time soon.

Several bits of information can be gleaned from perusing the above charts, climate seems to vary, changes can come suddenly, and predicting the weather is fraught with peril.

As hurricane season comes to a close, the clock is ticking and the hugely inflated storm count is not hiding the fact that for the last two seasons, the predictions have been a big bust. Oh, and so were the predictions for the 2005 season, a big bust in the other direction.

A Seemingly Endless Supply

A pale yellow to reddish brown liquid generating red-brown fumes and having a suffocating odor. Very toxic by inhalation. Corrosive to metals or tissue. Prolonged exposure to low concentrations or short term exposure to high concentrations may result in adverse health effects. Nitric Acid is also an oxidizer, a corrosive and used in the manufacturer of chemical weapons. 40,000 gallons from one cache.

Saddam Hussein procured and stored vast quantities of Nitric Acid in his chemical weapons programs. The total quantity is not known, but believed to be in the 100s of tons. Nitric acid is a dual use chemical weapon precursor chemical.

Iraq has a seemingly endless supply of homemade improvised explosive devices, many of which are concocted from urea fertilizer and concentrated nitric acid. They are hard to detect and yet powerful enough to destroy an armored vehicle.
