Spooky Dude Quites, Closes Hedge Fund

Coming to take you away ... ???

Bloomberg is reporting some interesting news regarding George Soros: he’s quitting. The outlet says that the liberal billionaire financier is dissolving the non-family aspect of his hedge fund that put him on the monetary map:
[T]he billionaire best known for breaking the Bank of England, is returning money to outside investors in his $25.5 billion firm [is] ending a career as hedge-fund manager that spanned more than four decades.
Soros, who turns 81 next month, will hand back the money, less than $1 billion, by the end of the year, according to two people briefed on the matter. His firm will focus on managing assets solely for Soros and his family, according to a letter to investors. Keith Anderson, 51, chief investment officer since February 2008, is leaving, said the letter, signed by Soros’s sons Jonathan and Robert, who are co-deputy chairmen.
The news raises a plethora of questions — mainly, why? According to Bloomberg, the family didn’t want to adhere to SEC reporting mandates that would have forced the fund to divulge information about its investors:
Soros’s sons said they took the decision because new financial regulations would have made it necessary for the firm to register with the Securities and Exchange Commission by March 2012 if it continued to manage money for outsiders. [...]
The rule calls for hedge funds with more than $150 million in assets to report information about their investors and employees, the assets they manage, potential conflicts of interest and their activities outside of fund advising. Registered funds will also be subject to periodic inspections by the SEC.
“We have relied until now on other exemptions from registration which allowed outside shareholders whose interests aligned with those of the family investors to remain invested in Quantum,” the executives said in the letter to executives, referring to its flagship Quantum Endowment Fund. “As those other exemptions are no longer available under the new regulations, Soros Fund Management will now complete the transition to a family office that it began eleven years ago.”
Still, there are plenty more questions. Is Sors wanting to concentrate on his politically-charged donations? Why just over a year from the election? Does this mark his formal transition from businessman to political activist?
The country might be wise to remember a phrase oft-repeated by Glenn Beck: “Watch the other hand.”

'America Is Gone In The Wrong Direction' George Soros Is Saving America From Our Political Debate

The puppetmaster tells us what to do, after he built an empire to destroy our country.

Truth, Soros wouldn't know truth if it bit his head off. What a freak show.

FCC Orders NBC Newsrooms To Partner With Soros-Funded Non-Profits

So much for objectivity. One of the FCC stipulations of the Comcast – NBCU merger was the incorporation of non-profit journalism centers into NBC newsrooms. They are charged with maintaining and increasing local news coverage, the regulation based on the relationship between KNSD-TV and VoiceofSanDiego.org.

There’s just one problem with this ... Yes, these “non-profit” journalism centers are funded by George Soros.

Media Matters For (A Soros') America

Hey lookey here, they be going to war ... Soros group opens a new front, or is it just the same old crap.

A piece over at Politico this morning --- It deals with an announcement of sorts regarding a “transformation” of the mission of Media Matters for(A Soros') America and their upcoming, self-described “war on Fox.”
The liberal group Media Matters has quietly transformed itself in preparation for what its founder, David Brock, described in an interview as an all-out campaign of “guerrilla warfare and sabotage” aimed at the Fox News Channel.

The group, launched as a more traditional media critic, has all but abandoned its monitoring of newspapers and other television networks and is narrowing its focus to Fox and a handful of conservative websites, which its leaders view as a political organizations and the “nerve center” of the conservative movement…

“The strategy that we had had toward Fox was basically a strategy of containment,” said Brock, Media Matters’ chairman and founder and a former conservative journalist, adding that the group’s main aim had been to challenge the factual claims of the channel and to attempt to prevent them from reaching the mainstream media.
The new strategy, he said, is a “war on Fox.”
I’ll confess that my initial reaction was one of confusion,  “Ummm, isn’t that what they’ve always done?"

It's hilarious when liberals uncloak and state the obvious and try and make it into something new. Semantic infiltration.

Slow Saturday news.

Soros: HowTo

Open society is communism, just so you understand the words. These tyrannical kooks love changing the meaning of words on you. And in case you don't understand how it works, first they try nudging you, then they shove you, and if you still won't go along with the tyranny, then they shoot you. And that is where the conflict they run into with the Second Amendment, the sheep shoot back.

First payback your friends ... From the WSJ:
Obama Underwrites Offshore Drilling

You read that headline correctly. Unfortunately, the Obama Administration is financing oil exploration off Brazil.

The U.S. is going to lend billions of dollars to Brazil's state-owned oil company, Petrobras, to finance exploration of the huge offshore discovery in Brazil's Tupi oil field in the Santos Basin near Rio de Janeiro. Brazil's planning minister confirmed that White House National Security Adviser James Jones met this month with Brazilian officials to talk about the loan.

The U.S. Export-Import Bank tells us it has issued a "preliminary commitment" letter to Petrobras in the amount of $2 billion and has discussed with Brazil the possibility of increasing that amount. Ex-Im Bank says it has not decided whether the money will come in the form of a direct loan or loan guarantees. Either way, this corporate foreign aid may strike some readers as odd, given that the U.S. Treasury seems desperate for cash and Petrobras is one of the largest corporations in the Americas.

But look on the bright side. If President Obama has embraced offshore drilling in Brazil, why not in the old U.S.A.? The land of the sorta free and the home of the heavily indebted has enormous offshore oil deposits, and last year ahead of the November elections, with gasoline at $4 a gallon, Congress let a ban on offshore drilling expire.
Takeaway questions: Is all those years in Rev Wright's Church what made Obama hate America so much, or was it his wife.

The Real McClellan Problem Surfaces

Is that you George Soros, again?

WSJ lead editorial:

The problem is that Mr. McClellan presents no major new detail to support his conclusions about Iraq, or even about the Administration’s deliberations about how to sell the war. This may be because he was the deputy press secretary for domestic issues during the run-up to war and thus rarely attended war strategy sessions.

Anatomy Of A Smear

Rush Limbaugh responds to smear tactics of the smear site Media Matters, a George Soros sponsored operation. Transcript
RUSH ARCHIVE: It’s not possible intellectually to follow these people.

CALLER: No, it’s not. And what’s really funny is they never talk to real soldiers. They like to pull these soldiers that come up out of the blue and spout to the media.

RUSH: The phony soldiers.

BREWER: Democratic Senator John Kerry is demanding an apology from Limbaugh, whose comments he calls “disgusting and an embarrassment.”
The soldier Rush was referring to was Jesse MacBeth, a soldier who has now been convicted of lying about his service. He was actually never a soldier in Iraq, he was discharged after 44 days in boot camp. As a hero of the anti-war types, he spun tall tales about his exploits as an US Army ranger, and the atrocities our soldiers committed. Jesse MacBeth and other other phony soldiers are darlings of the anti-war movement, which is what Rush was talking about. On September 21, 2007 Macbeth admitted in federal court that he had faked his war record. U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Sullivan declared that Macbeth had been in the Army for just 40 days and had been kicked out as unfit.

Another of these "phony soldiers" is the Private Scott Beauchamp who did not reveal that he was “Scott Thomas,” author of “Shock Troops,” until he was asked to sign a second sworn statement. The National Review printed those defaming articles without fact checking.

Phony soldiers, heros of the leftists.
