New Border Fence

This single wall, real fence is better than nothing. Just think what could have been if Bush had done his job seven years ago instead of the non sense we got "just doing the jobs Americans won't do". In case you want to know what jobs those might be, this particular disgrace in the local community should be your first stop -- Try googling Officer Widman the Ft Meyers policeman who was murdered by illegal immigrant Abel Arango. Yeah, I know, cop killer Abel Arango was from Cuba, but did you look at his arrest record and how ICE handled the case? It is horrifying.

Back to the Mexico border fence

West of El Paso, construction crews have completed a steel fence authorities say is a new model for border security.

The five-meter (18-foot) tall fence has a mesh woven so tightly that feet and fingers cannot grab hold, but it still allows people to see through. Steel pylons are set close enough to stop a truck from bursting through, and two meters of reinforced concrete underground deters any tunneling.

The structure is designed to push would-be illegal immigrants and drug smugglers out into the desert where they are more easily caught, said Border Patrol Agent Martin Hernandez.

"Will it completely stop them from coming across? Of course not,"

Hernandez said. "Rest assured, there will eventually be holes in parts of the wall made by people trying to get in. But it buys us valuable time."

Isn't it strange we can't stop border jumpers? When you consider what the U.S. can do, this just begs the question, how stupid do you think we are?

The US Department of Homeland Security is racing to meet a December 31 deadline to raise 670 miles of steel fences and vehicle barriers along the 2,000 mile long southern border. About half has been completed, including this four mile segment at New Mexico's Santa Teresa Port of Entry.

My guess is it's legacy time ...

The old barbed wire fence was a total disgrace. It's left to the imagination how long this fence will be maintained, and how long the border patrol agents will be on the border to limit the tide. I fear the damage to America's culture and way of life may already be irreparably damaged. The U.S. Governments inactivity on protecting the borders will go down as the historical reason why. No border, no culture, as they are now finding in Europe, especially in England.
