When Polar Bears Grow Up

Fangs for the memories: Knut is separated from this little boy by six inches of glass

Knut now weighs 22 stone and has six-inch claws and a fearsome set of fangs to match.

And he seemed to be particularly keen to test them on the three-year-old boy lying on the ground next to his enclosure.

We liked you better like this
It's so cold this winter that polar bears are unable to get through the thick ice to the seals they normally eat. They are coming into villages and looking for food, people. Many are having to be shot on sight. Endangered, sure, right. Now the ice is so thick they may need global warming to survive.
