A heavy haze could be seen in Beijing in August 2007. Two recent reports call for a heightened global effort to reduce carbon emissions.
The task of cutting greenhouse gas emissions enough to avert a dangerous rise in global temperatures may be far more difficult than previous research suggested, say scientists who have just published studies indicating that it would require the world to cease carbon emissions altogether within a matter of decades. You can stop reading the article here. It's total BS. All you need to know is it's another computer model. Who knows what the boundary conditions, accuracy or scientific testing of the model output is, the article does not state. My bet is since it is trying to project conclusions into the future, the model and it's output are totally useless for any purpose except to try and alarm people. If you continued reading, you would know that is exactly what the intent is. Take advantage of ignorant people to further the socialist's goal of controlling your life, taking away your freedoms, and of course raise taxes.
Their findings, published in separate journals over the past few weeks, suggest that both industrialized and developing nations must wean themselves off fossil fuels by as early as mid-century in order to prevent warming that could change precipitation patterns and dry up sources of water worldwide.
Using advanced computer models ...
Now to the original question:
Let's start with CO2, an odorless, colorless trace gas in the atmosphere, whether man puts it there or it's there because of natural causes. So the obvious conclusion is that CO2 is not what you see in the picture. A little science goes a long way.
So what is it you see in the picture: Unclear, it could be anything from dust, natural aerosols, water vapor or man caused pollution. Without analysis, who knows.
The point is the picture, coupled with the article attempts to draw the picture in the mind's eye that CO2 is causing the haze, which it is definitively not. And conversely, reducing the CO2 in the atmosphere will do precisely nothing to make the pictured haze go away, but will kill off all plant life on the planet.
