A spokesman said Microsoft was "bringing a software plus services experience to people at home, work and school." The company said that hundreds of thousands of users have signed up since the private beta was launched last October.
Office Live Workspace lets users organise and edit documents and projects online. Microsoft provides limited online storage with the service.

Following the ASUS Eee PC comes the update, with upgraded memory, display and storage. The Eee PC 900 sports an 8.9in screen - a couple of inches larger than the 7in display on the original computer - and more storage space. It has a 12GB solid-state disk drive (SSD), which is 50 percent greater than the largest drive available on current machines. The only flaw, Windows, who needs that anymore? I hope a version with a free OS or no OS will be offered. I would still favor the original, for all it's svelte goodness.
I think these lightweight laptops, coupled with online webapps, are the obvious future. Cloud computing from everywhere -- All you need is high speed Internet.
