After years of trying to break America, Jamie Oliver has finally made his mark by persuading one of the biggest U.S fast food chains in the world to change their burger recipe.

McDonald's have altered the ingredients after the Naked Chef forced them to remove a processed food type that he labelled 'pink slime'.

Food activist Oliver was shocked when he learned that ammonium hydroxide was being used by McDonald's to convert fatty beef offcuts into a beef filler for its burgers in the USA.

The filler product made headlines after Jamie Oliver denounced it on his show, Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution.

'Basically, we’re taking a product that would be sold at the cheapest form for dogs and after this process we can give it to humans' said the TV chef.

Jamie showed American audiences the raw 'pink slime' produced in the ammonium hydroxide process used by producers named Beef Products Inc (BPI).

'Pink slime' has never been used in McDonald's beef patties in the UK and Ireland which source their meat from farmers within the two countries.

Now after months of campaigning on his hit US television show McDonald's have admitted defeat and the fast food giant has abandoned the beef filler from its burger patties.

US Department of Agriculture microbiologist Geral Zirnstein agreed with Jamie that ammonium hydroxide agent should be banned.

He said: 'I do not consider the stuff to be ground beef and I consider allowing it in ground beef to be a form of fraudulent labelling.'

The defiant chef is pleased at the decision by McDonald's stop using the ammonium hydroxide processes meat.

He said: 'Why would any sensible human being want to put ammonia-filled meat into their children's mouths?

'The great American public needs to urgently understand what their food industry is doing.'

Todd Bacon, Senior Director of U.S. Quality Systems and Supply Chain with the fast food chain, said: 'At McDonald's food safety has been and will continue to be a top priority.

'Currently McDonald's USA does not use BPI products in our hamburgers.
'The decision to remove BPI products from the McDonald's system was not related to any particular event but rather to support our effort to align our global beef raw material standards.

'McDonald's complies with all government requirements and food safety regulations.

'Furthermore, we have our own food safety measures and standards in place throughout the entire supply chain to ensure that we serve safe, high quality food to every customer, every time they visit our restaurants.'

Two other chains Burger King and Taco Bell have earlier bowed to pressure and removed ammonium hydroxide processed ingredients from their products.

Nobody from Beef products Inc was available for comment.

The debate will be moderated by NBC's Brian Williams and will include a panel with National Journal’s Beth Reinhard and the Tampa Bay Times’ Adam Smith.

This will be the first weekday primetime airing of a primary debate on a broadcast network in the 2012 election cycle.

Clearly coming from South Carolina where the front runner changed yet again, this debate will have some serious implications heading into Florida. Mitt Romney has to come out stronger than he has and possibly come out to the right of Gingrich in his defense of capitalism and free markets. Ron Paul and Rick Santorum would need to basically win Florida to build any momentum moving forward and avoid this becoming a two-man race between Romney and Gingrich.

J.C. Penney (JCP: 34.89, -0.20, -0.57%) reportedly plans to slash thousands of jobs nationwide as part of a massive overhaul of the department store, led by new CEO and former Apple (AAPL: 425.87, +5.57, +1.33%) executive, Ron Johnson.

The layoffs were announced internally earlier this month and become effective on Monday, according to the New York Post.

It is expected to impact workers at nearly all of the aging chain’s 1,200 stores across the U.S., in many cases hitting dozens of workers at a single location, according to the report.
A company spokeswoman said the layoffs will impact temporary seasonal workers who had helped with the re-ticketing of merchandise, but unidentified sources told the Post the axe will also hit long-time employees.

"As planned, we held over some seasonal holiday hires to help us with the re-ticketing of merchandise," spokeswoman Sarah Keller said in an e-mail to FOX Business. "As this project comes to a close over the next several weeks, the temporary employment of these seasonal hires will come to an end."

The protest quickly caught the attention of Net users across America and prompted a frenzy of media coverage and a flood of calls to lawmakers, while exacerbating the divide between Silicon Valley and Hollywood over the Stop Online Piracy Act in the House and the PROTECT IP Act in the Senate.

At the same time, signs pointed to a possible political shift on Capitol Hill. The latest to withdraw support was Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), once a co-sponsor of PIPA, who said Wednesday he has heard “legitimate concerns” since the bill cleared the Senate Judiciary Committee last year.

Rubio isn’t alone in defecting: Before the Internet protest even began, Arizona Republican Rep. Ben Quayle pulled his support of the House’s anti-piracy measure. And as Wikipedia, Reddit and other websites went dark, a spokesman for GOP Rep. Lee Terry told a local Nebraska newspaper that the congressman would withdraw his backing too.

So far near 8,000 websites have joined the protest, with various forms pf blackouts.

Montana farmers have filed a class action suit against former New Jersey governor Jon Corzine, charging that the failed financial firm run by Corzine stole millions from their accounts to pay off its spiraling debts, and that Corzine's "single-minded obsession" with making MF Global a big player on Wall Street led to the firm's collapse.

MF Global's clients included 38,000 wheat farmers, cattle ranchers and others who "hedged" their crop prices by placing millions in MF Global accounts. Those accounts were supposed to be "segregated and secure," according to the federal suit, meaning MF Global could not draw on those funds.

The lawsuit, filed on behalf of all 38,000 customers, alleges that when MF Global made a series of bad investments -- notably in European debt -- it began "siphoning funds withdrawn from segregated client accounts" to cover its debts.

"This is a suit by the real victims of MF Global," said plaintiff's attorney Mark Baker of the law firm Anderson, Baker & Swanson. "The missing funds were not investments in MF Global, or loans to MF Global, but rather the customer's own money as collateral to guaranty their contracts. They were not to be used by others – let alone their own broker – to speculate on risky and exotic securities."

Once again Sarah Palin had harsh words for Michele Bachmann last night after the Iowa caucuses. But she was supportive of Mitt Romney and Ron Paul.

“I personally can’t see how it’s going to do a whole lot of good in many more response along the way,” Sarah Palin opined about the possibility of Michele Bachmann staying in the race and not dropping out if she finishes poorly in Iowa.
“Maybe not New Hampshire — quit by then — maybe not South Carolina or Florida, but down the road, unless, you know, something really turns around for her I don’t see a way to progress her candidacy to become the top-tier candidate,” Palin said.
“I’m not saying that to disparage her personally so people can quit the shots already that I’ve taken just because I’ve voice had my opinion. She’s got good things to offer. She’s done a great job. I am proud of her and I think she’s going to be back in the House of Representatives and we’re going be thankful for her being there,” she finished.

Sarah also defended Ron Paul and his supporters.

Winning Our Future, an outside group backing Newt Gingrich for president, is up with a new ad in Iowa pushing back against those in the "Republican establishment" seeking to derail his campaign.

"The Republican establishment wants to pick our candidate," says the ad's narrator. "When a principled conservative took the lead they outspent Newt Gingrich 20 to 1, attacking him with falsehoods."

The ad then promotes Gingrich's conservative bona fides.

"Don't let the liberal Republican establishment pick our candidate," the ad closes.

“Is he a socialist?” asks FOX News’s blunt television host Bill O’Reilly.

“I prefer to use the term that ‘he’s just over his head,’” the former governor of Massachusetts responds with what he must have thought was a safe answer.

While some analysts would applaud Romney’s refusal to out-and-out accuse the president of being a “socialist,” other commentators would disagree with this tactic.

Back in March, conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh said the following:

So the presidential campaign, here’s the question. You got an incumbent, Barack Hussein Obama. Does the Republican nominee focus on what we all believe to be true, the guy’s got a different view of the American tradition than all the rest of us? Do we say…Obama as anti-traditional American values, do we say this guy is a socialist, this guy’s models consist of Marx and Alinsky, do we go that way, do we point that out?
Or do we say to ourselves, you know what, most people don’t want to think that about their president. There‘s such reverence for the office that people don’t want to think that even if they admit that they made a mistake in voting for the guy, they don‘t want to think that they’ve elected somebody who is essentially an enemy of traditional American founding values…
In other words, do we depersonalize this and strictly focus the reelection campaign in the opposition to Obama on policy or do we go full bore and warn the American people why his policies are what they are?
I dare say that if you are of the camp that wants to hear the Republican presidential nominee talk about the guy’s a socialist, the guy doesn’t believe in traditional American founding values, that you’re gonna be sad and disappointed. You’re not gonna have a candidate say that. The candidate is gonna accept that Obama’s a legitimate American politician, a legitimate president, just got totally cockeyed policies. We’re gonna hear policy this, policy that, that‘s why we’re in the dumper.

Based on the widespread assumption that Mitt Romney will be the GOP presidential nominee, and based on his answers during the O’Reilly segment, it would appear that Limbaugh’s prediction was spot-on accurate.

Romney says the similarities that he likes between RomneyCare and ObamaCare are the "incentives"? As Ben notes, incentives=individual mandate and the fine for not having insurance.

So what we are left with is Mitt saying last year he wouldn't repeal the similarities between RomneyCare and ObamaCare that he likes (which in this video seems to include the mandate and fine) but this year he says he'll repeal it all.

I guess we'll just have to elect him to find out what he'll do! What could go wrong?

Added: Don't forget last year a blogger reported that Romney said to him that he wouldn't repeal the mandate. Team Romney quickly knocked it down but base on this video, you have to wonder.
